Located in downtown Fredericksburg, the Pioneer Museum spans 3.5 acres shaded by large pecan trees. The site preserves the history of German immigrants who settled in the Texas Hill Country during the mid-1840s. Visitors can explore ten historic structures, including a one-room schoolhouse, a log cabin, a Sunday house, and a smokehouse. The grounds also feature the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department Museum, which displays early twentieth-century firefighting equipment.

No outside food and drinks are allowed on the grounds. However, water in closed containers is permitted, and the Museum Store sells bottled water.
