Nestled on a historic marl and limestone hill, Cross Mountain Park offers breathtaking panoramic views of Fredericksburg and a rich history dating back to 1847.

Originally known as Kreuzberg, this 1,951-foot elevation hill was used as a Native American lookout before early settlers discovered a timber cross here in 1847. Today, a permanent lighted cross stands as a prominent feature. The park provides a peaceful environment where visitors can explore scenic walking trails, relax at picnic areas, and enjoy the serene butterfly garden. The main trail to the top takes just 10 to 15 minutes to climb.
