The LBJ Ranch offers a self-guided driving tour through the property where President Lyndon B. Johnson was born, lived, and was laid to rest. Visitors can explore the reconstructed birthplace, view the family cemetery, and see the Junction School where Johnson began his education. Is the Texas White House open for tours?

The Texas White House and Hangar Visitor Center are currently closed for a major rehabilitation project. However, the LBJ Ranch driving tour remains open, and you can still visit the reconstructed birthplace, family cemetery, and Junction School.

Do I need a permit to drive through the LBJ Ranch?

You must pick up a free driving permit at the LBJ State Park and Historic Site visitor center in Stonewall between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm before entering the ranch. The ranch entrance gate closes at 4:30 pm.

Is there an audio tour available for the driving route?

Yes, you can download the official National Park Service app and select the LBJ Ranch Driving Tour to listen to an audio narration as you drive the tour route.
